Special Issues for 2012
Most Friends Journal issues offer feature articles on a variety of subjects, but periodically we publish thematic issues. We invite submissions for the following special issues:
Faith, Practice or Community: What Makes Us Friends? (June/July 2012)
We'll look at relations among Friends and cross-branch dialogue. What unites us? What divisions are still important? Why do we share the "Friends" name? What worship style, creeds, and testimonies do we embrace?
We request complete submissions by February 10, 2012.
Wall Street, Main Street, and Meetinghouse Road (October 2012)
Coverage will include a look at Friends in business, entrepreneurship, and historical and modern ethical issues surrounding money. Are there continuing shifts in patterns of Quaker employment? What is the state of philanthropy among Friends and the support of Friends institutions?
We request complete submissions by May 15, 2012.
If you are interested in contributing material on these topics, please get in touch with us. We encourage advance inquiries and suggestions from prospective authors and artists. Contact Martin Kelley, editor, at martink@friendsjournal.org.
