Accommodating Embodiment within Our Meetings

Every body entering a meetinghouse has needs that must be met.

Helen Kobek is an author, a teacher, and long-term attender of Friends Meeting at Cambridge (Mass.), as well as an advocate for inclusion and consciousness in all areas of society. She is the author of the 2014 book Everyday Cruelty: How to Deal with Its Effects without Denial, Bitterness, or Despair.

Love Story

Maryhelen Snyder is a lifelong Friend, a poet, a therapist, and a previous contributor to Friends Journal. Her books include No Hole in the Flame, Sun in an Empty Room, and Never the Loss of Wings. She belongs to Langley Hill Meeting in McLean, Va.

Kitt Reidy's interest in disability justice was inspired by her mother’s advocacy for her during childhood. Later, Kitt became a special education teacher. She is currently writing a biblical fiction novel. She experiences worship and fellowship with other Friends who consider themselves post-Quaker in Portland, Ore.
