When the meetinghouse is on the other side of state prison walls.

Yohannes "Knowledge" Johnson is a member of Bulls Head-Oswego (N.Y.) Meeting and is clerk of Green Haven Preparative Meeting. He was born and raised in Harlem, N.Y. He has been in prison since 1980 and is currently working on a petition in support of executive clemency in New York State.

Cameron McWhirter is a journalist and the author of Red Summer: The Summer of 1919 and the Awakening of Black America. He is a member of Atlanta (Ga.) Meeting and previously served on the board of trustees for Friends Publishing Corporation, publisher of Friends Journal.
