Quaker Christianity in Kenya

A Kenyan shamanistic spirituality was fertile ground for Quaker missionaries.

Stanley Chagala Ngesa, a fourth-generation Kenyan Quaker raised in the Maragoli Hills of Western Kenya in the traditions of both Christian Quakerism and the traditional spirituality of his people, is currently a postgraduate student of Quaker studies at Earlham School of Religion in Richmond, Ind. He holds an MDiv degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary and has worked as a chaplain at Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae, Calif.
