John vivi\u00f3 con la enfermedad de Parkinson durante m\u00e1s de 20 a\u00f1os, pasando los dos \u00faltimos a\u00f1os de su vida en el Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center del Geer Village Senior Community en Canaan, Connecticut. John naci\u00f3 el 6 de mayo de 1937 en Isleworth, Londres, Inglaterra, hijo de Herbert Perry y Phyllis Ivy Perry. John destac\u00f3 en la escuela y en los deportes. Desarroll\u00f3 una carrera como consultor de empresas, especializ\u00e1ndose en planificaci\u00f3n estrat\u00e9gica e implementaci\u00f3n. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John fue un Amigo activo tras su traslado a los Estados Unidos, primero en el Meeting de Asheville (Carolina del Norte), luego en el Meeting de Wilton (Connecticut), donde se hizo miembro en 1975. John fue participante en las reuniones del Quarterly Meeting de Nine Partners y del Northeastern Regional Meeting.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El compromiso cu\u00e1quero de John le llev\u00f3 a unirse al Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP). Como facilitador de AVP, dirigi\u00f3 talleres en el Green Haven Correctional Facility en Stormville, Nueva York, y en el MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution en Suffield, Connecticut. Durante la guerra de Vietnam, su compromiso con la paz le llev\u00f3 a ser arrestado en la ciudad de Nueva York por protestar contra la guerra.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John estaba profundamente preocupado por la pol\u00edtica y el estado del mundo. Debo permitirme vivir en la secci\u00f3n de fe de <em>Fe y Pr\u00e1ctica<\/em>. Debo convertir la adversidad en un regalo\u201d.
