Iris naci\u00f3 el 1 de noviembre de 1914 en Halifax, Nueva Escocia. Su pasi\u00f3n por viajar comenz\u00f3 cuando era ni\u00f1a, viajando en transatl\u00e1ntico a Brighton, Inglaterra, para asistir al internado Roedean. Con una pasi\u00f3n por la aventura, cuando ten\u00eda 14 a\u00f1os en 1928, cruz\u00f3 el Canal de la Mancha en un biplano, y durante los siguientes 80 a\u00f1os viaj\u00f3 por todo el mundo.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Se gradu\u00f3 de la Universidad de Dalhousie con una maestr\u00eda en literatura inglesa. M\u00e1s tarde, obtuvo una segunda maestr\u00eda en trabajo social psiqui\u00e1trico de la Universidad de Carolina del Norte en Chapel Hill, lo que la llev\u00f3 a una carrera como trabajadora social psiqui\u00e1trica para el Departamento de Salud, Educaci\u00f3n y Bienestar de los Estados Unidos, donde obtuvo un estatus de grado 14. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ella y su tercer marido, Robert Ingram, descubrieron a los cu\u00e1queros y se unieron al Meeting de Gettysburg (Pensilvania) en 1975. Confi\u00f3 en la red de Amigos en sus viajes por los Estados Unidos y en el extranjero, ya que descubri\u00f3 que pod\u00eda tolerar mejor sus hogares que los hoteles comerciales que dependen de limpiadores agresivos, pesticidas o productos con fragancias.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mientras pasaban los inviernos en la costa del Golfo de Florida y los veranos en Annapolis, Maryland, ella y Bob asistieron tanto al Meeting de Sarasota (Florida) como al Meeting de Annapolis. Iris escribi\u00f3 sobre c\u00f3mo le encantaba ir al Meeting, en el silencio junto con cada miembro honrando una experiencia personal del Esp\u00edritu. Bob falleci\u00f3 en 1987. Cuando ya no pudo vivir de forma independiente en Florida, se mud\u00f3 a Atria Manresa en Annapolis para estar m\u00e1s cerca de su familia y mantuvo su conexi\u00f3n con el Meeting de Annapolis hasta su fallecimiento.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Iris le precedieron en la muerte tres maridos, Cedric Yeo, Ernest Padgett y Robert Ingram.
