The Heschel-King Festival will be a robust and inspiring weekend. Keynote speakers include two close colleagues of King: civil rights historian and scholar Dr. Vincent Harding and Dorothy Cotton, former Education Director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. A third keynote speaker will be Rabbi Michael Lerner, editor of Tikkun magazine, who studied with Rabbi Heschel. The program includes performances by a multi-faith choir, conversations among the speakers and local leaders, a showcase of 15 community action groups, a performance by a multi-faith group of teens developed by Philly’s own Bible Raps, excerpts from a film about Heschel by Steve Brand, and more.
