Margaret L. Fogg

Fogg—Margaret L. Fogg, 90, on January 7, 2017, in Tallahassee, Fla., after a brief illness. Margaret was born on November 4, 1926, in Salem, N.J. She graduated from George School in 1944 and from Earlham College in 1948. The loving mother of seven children and grandmother of eleven, she nourished her family with her skills as a cook and baker. She loved travel and the outdoors and took her family on many adventures both in the United States and overseas. While living in the D.C. suburbs, she volunteered with Ed Snyder at Friends Committee on National Legislation. She worked for the Florida state government for 20 years. Margaret, with fellow Earlham College alumnus Wilson Baker, founded Tallahassee (Fla.) Meeting.

She was a loyal subscriber and frequent contributor to the Tallahassee Democrat, sending letters to the editor and the one-liners that the newspaper calls Zings. She cheered for whichever sport was in season for Florida State University Seminoles, women’s and men’s teams alike. A dedicated environmentalist and active member of the community, she worked on cleanup of local lakes, was locally active on both the environmental and political fronts, and regularly contacted her representatives about issues that concerned her.

Margaret was under hospice care with her children as her main support when she died. Her family will plant a pecan orchard in her memory on the family farm. For details on how to contribute in lieu of flowers, contact mud.creek324@gmail.com.
