Martha Alice Reeder Palmer

Palmer—Martha Alice Reeder Palmer, 92, on November 17, 2016, at Medford Leas in Medford, N.J. Martha was born on February 2, 1924, on Belview Farm near Columbus, N.J., to Edith Sykes Gibbs and Walter Lewis Reeder. She attended George School in Bucks County, Pa., and Earlham College. She married Stuart Mervin Palmer in 1947, and together they traveled to China and Europe and spent many summers on Nantucket Island, Mass. Martha was a lifelong Quaker and a member of Crosswicks (N.J.) Meeting, where for many years she played piano for the First Day meeting for worship. An educator by training, she spent most of her career working for the Camden and Philadelphia school districts. She enjoyed collecting and selling antiques, visiting old houses, and most of all spending time with her family.

She is survived by two children, Laura Doyle and John Palmer; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Pray. Martha’s family welcomes donations to Crosswicks Friends Meeting, PO Box 456, Crosswicks, NJ 08515.
