Walipanua kura kwa wanaume wote bila kujali rangi. Walizungumza juu ya haki za wafanyikazi. Walihakikisha ulinzi wa watu chini ya sheria. Haya yote yalikuwa yakitokea mwaka 1868: weusi na weupe wakifanya kazi pamoja. Walikubali sheria mpya za mahakama, kuhakikisha kwamba watu weusi wanaweza kukaa kwenye juries na kutoa ushahidi katika mahakama. Walipanua demokrasia.      <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Baada ya miaka minne ya jaribio hili lenye nguvu, Ujenzi Upya ulianza kukabili upinzani usio na maadili na wenye nguvu. Mashirikisho mengi ya zamani yaliona uraia na uongozi mweusi kufanya kazi na uongozi wa wazungu kama uhalali wa asili. Kwanza, waliwafuata wazungu. Klan iliundwa kwa njia fulani kushambulia watu weupe kwanza, sio weusi. Walianza kulia dhidi ya kodi. Mabishano ya kwanza kuhusu kukata kodi yalianza karibu 1872. Sheria ya Haki za Kiraia ya 1875 ilifanya kuwa ni kosa kwa wafanyabiashara kukataa kuwatumikia watu weusi. Lakini mwaka wa 1883 ilibatilishwa na Mahakama Kuu ya Marekani.     <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wapinzani wa Kujenga Upya walifuata mahakama na kuanza kuweka watu wengi zaidi kwenye mahakama ambao walikuwa &#8221;wahafidhina,&#8221; au tuseme, &#8221;waliokithiri.&#8221; Kisha wakafuata sanduku la kura. Weusi, wazungu, Walatino, na vijana walianza kukusanyika pamoja. Wakristo, Wayahudi, na Wakatoliki walikuwa tayari kuandamana na kuteseka, na kwa pamoja walijenga harakati hii mpya ya muunganisho. Waligeukia vurugu na vitisho. Waliwaua Martin Luther King Jr. na Medgar Evers na Viola Liuzzo na James Reeb na wengine wengi. Waliamua,       <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tunapaswa kuwa na harakati nyingine sasa.<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tulikuwa na harakati ya ukombozi ili kusimamisha Ujenzi Mpya wa Kwanza. Tunahitaji nini? Mkakati wa Kusini.  <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  Na nadhani mantra yao ilikuwa nini?  <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lazima turudishe Amerika. Lazima tuifanye Amerika kuwa nzuri tena. Lazima tuikomboe Amerika.  <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span class=\"dropcap\">I<\/span><!--\/.dropcap-->n katikati ya hadithi hizo kuna ramani ya barabara ya leo. Lazima tuanze kufikiria katika kujenga ujenzi wa Tatu ambao naamini umezaliwa. Ishara ziko hapa. Uchaguzi wa Rais Obama (sio sera zake kwa sababu sikubaliani na sera zake zote), unaotokana na aina ya kampeni alizoendesha, ulivunjwa huko Kusini. Alishinda katika maeneo kama vile Virginia, Carolina Kaskazini, Carolina Kusini\u2014hilo ni muhimu sana!\u2014na Florida. North Carolina, kwa mfano, hakuwahi kumpigia kura Democrat, hata Democrat nyeupe, na bado alishinda North Carolina. Kuna wapiga kura wapya: weusi na weupe na vijana. Ni mabadiliko ya idadi ya watu. Kusimamisha kikamilifu Ujenzi wa Pili ulichukua kutoka 1954 hadi 1980: hiyo ni miaka 26. Ninaamini wale ambao ni binamu wa waharibifu wanajaribu sasa kuua Ujenzi huu mpya wa Tatu katika uchanga wake, kwa sababu wanajua uwezo tungekuwa nao ikiwa tungeshikamana na kujiweka sawa katika mchanganyiko huu wa maadili, harakati hii ya makutano.
