Gharama za nyumba na elimu zinapanda sana huku mishahara ikidorora. Matokeo ya moja kwa moja, wengi huona ujana wao kuwa wakati ambapo shangwe za maisha \u201czimesitishwa\u201d hadi kazi za kibinafsi za kifedha zisuluhishwe na kazi yenye uwezo wa kuchuma mapato ipatikane kabisa. Mara kwa mara huwasikia wenzangu wakielezea awamu yetu ya maisha kama moja ya kuharakisha na kuitikia matakwa ya &#8221;kujenga maisha&#8221; dhidi ya mwelekeo mbaya wa kiuchumi. Vijana hudumisha mwendo huu wenye shughuli nyingi na wenye mkazo kwa miaka mingi, wakijiambia kwamba ni hali ya muda tu na kwamba wakati ujao utaleta wakati wenye usawaziko zaidi unaotokana na mazoea ya kujaza tena kiroho. Wengi huota wakati ujao wa mbali wakati nafsi inaweza kuhudumiwa kikamilifu kama bajeti na wakati Clif Bars zinazoliwa popote pale zinapobadilishwa na milo iliyopikwa nyumbani kwenye meza ya pamoja.     <\/p>\n<p>Mlo halisi wa kukaa pamoja na wengine huhitaji nidhamu na mara nyingi kuungwa mkono na wengine. Tunapowalisha watu kwenye mikutano, tunapata fursa ya kuwaruhusu watu wakumbushwe upendo wa Mungu. Kwa chakula cha pamoja, tuna fursa ya kuashiria kwa vijana kwamba chakula cha nafsi hakihitaji kuahirishwa katika siku zijazo za kizushi na kwamba furaha na uhusiano zinapatikana hivi sasa.  <\/p>\n<p>Kinyume na hali ya nyuma ya utamaduni unaoona muda unaotumika kwa shughuli zisizo za kiuchumi kama hatari, kupanga meza kwa ajili ya mlo wa kukaa chini kunathibitisha imani yetu kwamba tayari tunatosha\u2014na kwamba jamaa ya Mungu tayari iko katikati yetu. Kwa vijana watu wazima ambao daima wako chini ya mkazo wa kufanya kazi kwa bidii zaidi ili kuwa \u201ckutosha,\u201d jinsi tunavyolishana huenda kukawa mwonozo unaohitajiwa sana wa Mungu mkarimu. <\/p>\n<p>Miaka mitano iliyopita, wakati John na Debbie Humphries walipoanza kuwaalika vijana waliohudhuria mkutano kutoka Hartford (Conn.) nyumbani kwao kwa mlo wa kila mwezi, nguvu katika mkusanyiko huo ilikuwa ukarimu wa wakati uliotumiwa pamoja, si tu chakula cha bure. Ingawa chakula kinathaminiwa kila wakati, washiriki hawaji kwa sababu hawawezi kupata chakula mahali pengine; wanakuja kwa sababu inawakumbusha kuwa wanapendwa.<\/p>\n<p>Katika Mradi wa Mikutano Muhimu, tumeona mara kwa mara kwamba vipengele vya imani yetu ambavyo vinawavutia zaidi vijana ni nyongeza ya tumaini letu la kudumu katika fadhila ya Mungu. Wakati chakula na unganisho viko katikati (&#8221;Jiunge nasi tu na ule!&#8221;) badala ya orodha ya vitu vya kufanya, joto huangaza na kusema &#8221;ndiyo&#8221; ni furaha. <\/p>\n<p>Kwa watafutaji ambao roho zao zimepungua kutokana na dhiki ya maisha katikati ya mawazo ya uhaba unaoendelea, tunaweza kuashiria wingi na kina cha imani yetu kwa njia zaidi kuliko tu kwa chakula. Tunaonyesha uaminifu huu kwa wingi tunapokaribia uteuzi kutoka kwa mtazamo wa kutaja zawadi badala ya kujaza nafasi. Tunaionyesha tunapojitahidi kuungana na watu binafsi, hata kama hawawezi &#8221;kurudisha&#8221; kwa sababu wanapanga kuishi nusu ya nchi muhula ujao. Tunaashiria wingi tunapounda fursa za kuunda mahusiano ya kweli kupitia uchezaji wa pamoja, huduma, na kushiriki na tunapokubali miundo ya malipo ya kuongozwa na malipo na mengine yanayojumlisha. Tunaiashiria tunaposema \u201cndiyo\u201d kwa kazi halisi, inayoongozwa na Roho hata kama inamaanisha kusema \u201chapana\u201d kwa \u201clazima\u201d zinazoonekana kuwa za dharura. Kwa vijana wazima (na wengine wengi), ishara hizi ni muhimu.     <\/p>\n<p>Vijana wachanga hawaji kwa jumuiya ya Quaker kutafuta shughuli nyingine inayodai rasilimali zinazoonekana kuwa chache kama vile muda wa kupumzika; wanatujia wakitafuta mahali pa kushangilia katika utajiri tulionao sisi kwa sisi. Badala ya kurekebisha mapungufu yetu, mikutano muhimu hutengeneza fursa za kusherehekea kile tunachoweza kupata pamoja.
