Margaret Brick Robjent

Robjent—Margaret Brick Robjent, 100, on May 22, 2021, in Waterville, Maine, following a period of declining health. Margaret was born on April 20, 1921, the daughter of Arthur R. and Clara B. Brick in Crosswicks, N.J. She was educated in Crosswicks public schools; George School in Newtown, Pa.; and Rider College in Lawrenceville, N.J. She was a legal secretary from April 1939 until August 1945. On August 31, 1943, Margaret married James F. Robjent of Andover, Mass. While her husband was overseas during World War II, Margaret assisted in the management of the United Service Organizations (USO) at Fort Dix near Trenton, N.J.; was active in the Preparative Meeting of Friends in Crosswicks; and served as a volunteer at Travelers Aid in the Trenton Railroad Station, in addition to her legal secretarial position.

From 1945 to 1955, Margaret and her family lived in Andover, Mass., where she was active in the South Church and the Alpha Pi Chi Sorority. In 1955, the family moved to Waterville, Maine, where Margaret continued her humanitarian work in the community. She served as a Cub Scout den leader and merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts of America, and volunteered in the Mansfield Clinic at Thayer Hospital in the newly formed hospice program, at Meals on Wheels, and for the Evening Supper Program. For a number of years, Margaret was a pharmacy assistant at Thayer Hospital and a volunteer in the pharmacy at the Osteopathic Hospital. She was a member of the Women’s Club.

A lifelong Friend, Margaret was a member of Crosswicks Preparative Meeting. In Waterville, she was an associate member of the First Congregational Church, where she served for more than 30 years as assistant treasurer, and was secretary of the Church Building Committee, office assistant, Sunday school teacher, member of the Women’s Fellowship, and faithful worker on numerous church committees and at numerous church functions. Margaret’s hobbies included dancing, gardening, and handiwork. She especially enjoyed nature—a love she passed on to her children.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, James F. Robjent; two brothers, A. Robert Brick and Kenneth Brick; and a sister, Elizabeth B. Collier. Margaret is survived by three children, James B. Robjent (Catherine W.), Frederick B. Robjent, and Elizabeth G. Robjent (Linda Ostermann); four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
