An interview with our Books editor Karie Firoozmand.

Karie Firoozmand is the book review editor and a member of Baltimore Monthly Meeting, Stony Run. She has two sons and lives with her husband near Baltimore. Karie鈥檚 interests include dance, exercise, history, literature, and travel. She speaks Farsi and has traveled to Iran. Karie joined Friends Journal聽as the book review editor in June 2011. This week Gretchen Castle attended the inaugural mass of Pope Francis as the Quaker representative on the Christian World Communion. We caught up with her a few days later and talked about the inauguration, her role in the Christian World Communion, and the changes facing our denominations.

Gretchen Castle is general secretary of Friends World Committee for Consultation, an organization that聽encourages fellowship among all the branches of the Religious Society of Friends. As part of her role she is the Quaker representative to the Christian World Communion and was invited to the inaugural mass of Pope Francis on March 19, 2013.

He lives in Philadelphia, Pa., and teaches at Richard Stockton College in Galloway, N.J.
