May I See

Lord, cure me of my blindness,
My short-sightedness.

Where there is hostility,
May I see the fragility;

Where there is self-righteousness,
May I see the fear;

Where there is a hardness,
May I see the tender;

Where there is stubbornness,
May I see the doubt;

Where there is so much need,
May I see the plenty;

Where there is helplessness,
May I see the strength;

Where there is selfishness,
May I see the loss;

Where there is hate,
May I see the pain;

Where there is violence,
May I see the light within to peace;

And where there is imperfection,
May I see God’s everlasting love.
