“Trying to discern vocation is such an important thing to do,” says Tim Gee, general secretary of Friends World Committee for Consultation. “We need all of the support we can get, and the best resource for accompaniment in that journey, in my experience, is the wonderful resource of Scripture.”
“My journey into faith, with faith, and through faith is primarily to do with seeking a direct connection and communication with the Divine,” Tim explains—and for a long time, that led (as it has for many Friends) to Scripture taking a back seat. “As I’ve experienced a number of things, though, I’ve found great companionship with different people in the Bible—wonderful empathy as I observe them . . . trying to understand what it is God wants them to do.”
