In Brief: Ways to Kiss the Earth: Quaker Artists Explore Sustainability

Edited by Linda Murgatroyd. Quaker Arts Network, 2020. 48 pages. £10/paperback.

Ways to Kiss the Earth presents art works in a diversity of styles and media by 26 contemporary Quaker artists who have responded to the challenges of environmental breakdown. The works are presented under themes of “wonder and reverence,” “spiritual and creative processes,” “climate emergency,” “simple and sustainable,” and “witness and activism.” A final section illustrates the beginnings of the Loving Earth Project, a community textile project aimed at helping people to engage creatively with environmental issues without becoming overwhelmed.
