Here is a memoir written in 1960 but unpublished until 2016, and highly relevant today. Dr. Michael Dillon (1915–1962) was born female and transitioned to male from 1939 to 1949. He was the first known patient to undergo, in addition to hormonal transition, successful phalloplasty. It is a tremendous gift to be able to hear, in his own words, what his life, including his ten-year transition, was like.
