North American Friends are familiar with the need to listen well when hearing the words of Friends from meetings different from our own. We cultivate the skill of listening for the place from whence words come, to paraphrase John Woolman’s well-loved insight. British Friend Rex Ambler is known for his Experiment with Light work. This pamphlet is based on a talk given to a national conference organized by British Quakers in 2014. Here he shares fresh insights about using language to do that hardest of jobs: sharing our experiences of that which is eternal.
