This day
sixteen years
ago
I stepped my feet
on Welsh land

and a grievous
day
it was to me

All the company
who were so
intimate
          are gone

and it is little
consequence
now
who went first

But it fell to my dear son

then to William and
Peleg
and now to George

They are gone
to where we are
all
hastening apace

I have sat alone
all day
