Political Change through the Power of Stories

A Friend finds new confidence in her voice as a citizen.

Joey Hartmann-Dow is an artist and activist living in Philadelphia, Pa. She is an organizer with FCNL's Advocacy Corps, bringing community members together to communicate with members of Congress about the urgent need for bipartisan climate action. Joey is a member of Lehigh Valley Meeting in Bethlehem, Pa. Follow her work for climate change at earth4president.tumblr.com.

Religious Education

Christel Jorgenson, a member of Friends Meeting at Cambridge (Mass.), was the youth and education secretary for New England Yearly Meeting for a long spell, and now happily helps with family worship at her meeting. She spends winter months at Casa de los Amigos in Mexico City, Mexico, where she attends Mexico City Meeting.

The Challenge of Celebrating Historical Wars

What does a Friends meeting do when their hometown celebrates war?

Sharon Ann Holt began attending Trenton (N.J.) Meeting upon moving to the city in 2012, having absorbed some Quaker spirit in her three years as director of the Sandy Spring Museum in Maryland. She teaches history and public history at Penn State Abington and enjoys using her professional abilities to serve the meeting.
