Laundry

Folding fitted sheets
is an origami of
the linen closet.

There are those who would
write poetry on the how’s
and where’s of storage:

     The bear claw technique.
     The functional roll and shelve.
     Orthodox irons.

But we who love sleep,
and lifestyles of well-rested,
kind, peaceful dreamers,

     Believe it fitting
     To meet concave to convex—
     The sheet to the bed.

Allowing this one
aspect of our frenzied lives
a simplicity.

A primal puzzle
of fit being and doing.
Sacred that simple.
