Nagendran “Gulen” Gulendran

GulendranNagendran “Gulen” Gulendran, 85, on January 6, 2021, in his sleep at home in Philadelphia, Pa. Gulen was born on June 28, 1935, to Nagendran Sithantharapillai and Rasamani Nagendran in Sri Lanka. He was educated in Sri Lanka and worked for several years in the mercantile sector of Sri Lanka, both as a marketing executive and as a shipping executive (imports and exports) for large companies. 

In 1976 Gulen traveled to England, where he worked in the private sector for a few years and started his own import business. Gulen came to the United States in 1989, and in 1990 he joined Friends Publishing Corporation as circulation and promotion manager. Between 1994 and 2001, he was a marketing and advertising manager. From September 2001 until his retirement in 2009, Gulen focused his considerable energies on his work as advertising manager, helping Quaker individuals, organizations, and businesses connect and promote their products and services. 

Gulen is survived by his wife, Gnanal Gulendran; two daughters, Geethanjali Rudrakumaran (Rudrakumaran Visuvanathan) and Gayathri Gulendran; and two grandchildren.
