May 2025 Book Reviews

Phot by Valua Vitaly

May is one of my favorite months. Here in Delaware, it is sunny and warm but usually not hot yet. It is perfect for outdoor activities. The May column is full of books that entice young people to get outside. We have reviewed a book that will teach them how to build things our animal friends need. Or they can read a wordless book about NOA, a robot who is caring for animals after Earth has flooded. They may be inspired by the young naturalists in The Monarchs of Winghaven or by the efforts to save a stranded seal in Safe Harbor. Of course, there are plenty of books on other topics, perhaps perfect books to be read under a favorite tree. Happy May! —Eileen Redden, Young Friends Book Review Editor, yfbooksed@friendsjournal.org
