Sandra Joan Leuchs Heys

Heys—Sandra Joan Leuchs Heys, 83, on April 13, 2021, six months after being diagnosed with brain cancer. Sandra was born on June 6, 1937, to Edward M. Leuchs and Pauline Salesky Leuchs in East Orange, N.J.

Sandra was educated at Our Lady Help of Christians School, East Orange High School, and Boston University. She loved acting, directing, playing piano, and led the singing group at Palm Beach (Fla.) Meeting for a number of years. She especially enjoyed singing Broadway hits with her sister, along with organizing mini-productions. Other creative gifts found outlets in ceramics, painting, and gardening, which Sandra loved to share with others. She was devoted to environmentalism and intentional communities. Sandra loved travel and relished her trips to Italy and New Zealand.

After living on the West Coast, Sandra spent her later years in Palm Beach County, Fla., and was an active member of Palm Beach Meeting. She was clerk of the meeting at the time of her death and had served on ministry and property committees. She was a Reiki master who taught Reiki at the meetinghouse and participated in monthly healing circles.

Sandra was preceded in death by former husbands Wilfred Heys and Bob Bergstrom and her parents Edward M. Leuchs and Pauline Salesky Leuchs. She is survived by her husband Jack McGregor; her sons, Bill Heys and Ted Heys; her brother, Mike Leuchs; and her sister, Carol Leuchs Prager.
