Perennials

When I biked up the hills
to your house, I saw you
planting bulbs in your yard
before you turned
and saw me.

I wonder if those bulbs
still bloom?

The one you planted
in my heart
roots ever deeper,
shoots with the freshest green
and blossoms exceeding sweet,
even now.

Turn
and see.
